Famine Relief in Laikipia North

Om Sri Sai Ram.

Kenya has seen one of the longest droughts in the last 40 years. It has lasted over 3 years, as the last long rains were in 2018. To help alleviate the suffering, Sri Sathya Sai Centre – Kenya organized a famine relief program in the Laikipia North region of Kenya.

With Swami’s grace and blessings, we distributed 1000 hampers. One hamper feeds a family of 4 for 1 month. Each hamper weighed 12 kg with the following food items: 6 kg Unga, 2 kg beans, 2 kg rice, 1 kg greengrams, 500 g salt, and 500 g cooking fat.

07 July: Red Cross – Kenya picked up the hampers for transportation to Laikipia.
08 July: Volunteers from the Sai Centre drove to Nanyuki to help with distribution.
09 July: Hamper distribution in Ewaso, and Kimaju areas of Laikipia North.
10 July: Hamper distribution in Loshaki and then volunteers returned to Nairobi.

350 hampers – Kimaju
400 hampers – Ewaso
250 hampers – Loshaki

We thank all our donors for their contributions, without whose help, this incredible seva would not have been possible.

We are also deeply grateful to Red Cross – Kenya for providing the logistics and ensuring that the food reached the right people.
